Biografi
Danska flöjtisten Gitte Marcusson delar sin tid mellan Sverige och London, där hon numera är flöjtprofessor vid Royal College of Music. Gitte är en hängiven och passionerad lärare, som vid sidan av hennes professorskap vid RCM, har tagit sig an hundratals studenter från hela världen i hennes Londonbaserade studio. Hon har undervisat många av dagens framstående flöjtister såsom Katherine Bryan (Royal Scottish National Orchestra), Adam Walker (London Symphony Orchestra), Alex Jakeman (BBC Philharmonic) samt Joshua Batty (Sidney Symphony Orchestra). Gitte har tidigare undervisat vid Chethams School of Music och är grundare av Nordic Flute International Summer School, baserad i Vänersborg. Hon har bland andra studerat för Trevor Wye, Patricia Lynden, Patricia Morris och Rachel Brown.

Born in Denmark, Gitte moved to Manchester to study flute with Trevor Wye and Clare Southworth and later in London with Patricia Lynden and Patricia Morris.
In London she established herself as a busy orchestral player performing with orchestras such as National Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Her commitment to chamber music shows in the vast numbers of performances at societies and festivals throughout Europe. One of her 500 concerts for "Live Music Now" was a performance at Buckingham Palace celebrating Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
Gitte is a devoted teacher having taught many of today's outstanding flautists such as Katherine Bryan, principal Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Adam Walker, principal LSO, Alex Jakeman, second flute LSO, Joshua Batty, principal RTE Concert Orchestra.
She taught at Chethams School of Music for 16 years before moving to Sweden where she has a private flute studio as well as teaching at Vänersborg School of Music.
Gitte visits London regularly coaching students from all over the world into the music profession and frequently gives classes at conservatories such as Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Cologne University of Music, and Gothenburg Academy of Music. She coaches the flute section in the Swedish National Youth Orchestra and is founder of Nordic Flute International Summer School.
Gitte has broadcast frequently on radio and recorded for Naxos playing Bach Brandenburg with Camerata Calluna.
In April 2016 she was appointed professor at the Royal College of Music.
