Biografi

Finska flöjtisten Jaana Laasonen undervisar vid East Helsinki Music Institute (IHMO) i Finland. Hon tog sitt diplom 1986 efter att ha studerat flöjt i Finland och vid Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music i Budapest, Ungern. Laasonen har utvecklat en metod för unga flöjtister som heter Color Flute, som bygger på Zoltán Kodalys idéer. Utanför Finland har hon undervisat i denna metod i Ungern, Irland, England, Lettland, Estland, Österrike och Färöarna.

Jaana Laasonen has been a Lecturer in Flute at the East Helsinki Music Institute in Finland. She has studied the flute in Finland with Mikael Helasvuo, Anja Voipio ja Èva Hibay and at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with  Lóránt Kovács and Tihamér Elek, and has also participated in several summer courses across Europe. 

She took her flute diploma in 1986, and has performed mostly as a chamber musician in several groups both in Finland and in Hungary. 

She has developed a concept for young flautists called Colour Flute, which is based on Zoltán Kodaly's ideas.   

Outside Finland, she has taught the Colour Flute Concept in Hungary, Ireland, England, Latvia, Estonia, Austria and The Faroe Islands.  

She has also run masterclasses for young players in Finland and Estonia, as well as teacher’s training workshops in several countries on group teaching, games, coordination, and improvisation in instrumental music teaching. 

Flautists from around the world have visited the East Helsinki Music Institute to observe her teaching.
